The proposition of public space is ingrained in the city planning of infrastructural mapping. The “in-between” spaces that define the void are littered with the potential for the insertion of publicity. The architectural event must be a non-consumptive facilitator. The solution is an infrastructure of truly public space: seven pavilions address this proposal. The site is amidst the public of the techno-city Tokyo. Each pavilion remains dormant, their activity happens through the event.

allotment garden The field is stripped with prismatic colors, densities and heights. The garden is a ground of congregation and recreation. A small pavilion houses the tools of cultivation when dormant. A grill animates the field to prepare its fruits for consumption and facilitate a social gathering for nourishment.

WC The outer shell of opaque glass shadows two uni-sex facilities. The field surrounding the pavilion consists of a group of shallow pools of varying temperatures. Serving as reflecting surfaces, each pool has an elevated spicate that serves as a fountainhead shower.

library Three glass folds define a canopy that provides the definition of place amidst a catalogue of dangling books. A series of dialectic plastic seats provide support for both the book and the body independently.

image screens The image screen pavilion is a triumvirate of computer stations that access and control of each of the digital projection billboards. The field becomes a projected realm of changing information.

sports courts The sports courts exist as a set of superimposed geometries upon a singular surface.

discotheque A mobile discotheque formulates event through an audible infrastructure. The operable perimeter walls allow a unfolding of the enclosure to formulate a stage and reveal the interior equipment.

chapel The chapel provides an infrastructure for the congregation.
